Crunchyroll launched the new series “Necronomico and the cosmic horror show”, and in episode one, a scene appears to have German subtitles translated from standard Japanese.

However as seen above, before the German translation, the first two words read “ChatGPT said”. Crunchyroll asked ChatGPT to translate subtitles and organized them with titles. They just forgot to remove it.

After getting caught, they blamed third party vendors for giving them “fake” subtitles. Crunchyroll claims they haven’t used ChatGPT or any AI to translate their subtitles on any anime ever released in the platform.

This decision has DECIMATED black clover fans, as they now have to wonder when the heck the anime will actually come out and announce their release date, while also blaming crunchyroll for their incompetence.
